WT Sports Update

Lady Buff senior volleyball player Lauren Bevan was named the Daktronics DII Volleyball South Central Region Player of the Year. Bevan was one of seven members of the All-Region 1st Team that are now eligible for All-American accolades to be announced on December 3rd. The senior outside hitter leads the Lady Buff with 470 kills on the season to average 3.92 per set this season.

For the 25th time in school history, the West Texas A&M volleyball team has been selected into the NCAA Division II Volleyball Postseason. The Lady Buffs claimed the 5th seed in the South Central Region. WT will begin action tonight at 6:00 pm in Grand Junction, Colorado as they will take on the 4th seed Regis Rangers. The Lady Buffs lost their previous meeting with Regis back in September.

West Texas A&M defensive back Torian Oakley was named LSC Defensive Back of the Year and WT linebacker Carter James was named LSC Freshman of the Year. Oakley finished the season with 43 tackles and two interceptions. James finished the season with leading the team in tackles with 125 tackles and three sacks. The Buffaloes ended the season at 6-5 and missed the NCAA Playoffs.

High School Football Playoff Update

In high school football action last night, Farwell defeated Memphis 26-7. Breckridge got past Muleshoe easily 28-7. And Iowa Park beat Venus 52-14.

Tonight in high school football playoff action, Frenship will be facing Abilene High. Amarillo High looks to keep their great season going against Arlington Martin. Lubbock Estacado will play Stephenville. Abilene Wylie will look to avoid an upset against Levelland. Sweetwater will play Bridgeport. Celina and Monahans will play each other. Idalou will play Sonora. Canadian will play Windhorst. Ozona and Stratford will battle each other. Wellington will play Stanford. Booker plays Quanah. Crosbyton will look to remain unbeaten against Sunray. Happy also looks to remain unbeaten against Grady. Borden County will play Valley. Follett will play Whitharral.

Saturday in high school football action, Tascosa will have a tough battle with Odessa Permian. Palo Duro will play El Paso Dell Valle. Randall will have a home game against El Paso Andress. Gruver will play Seagraves.

Amarillo Bulls-Lone Star Preview

The Amarillo Bulls are preparing for a three-game roadtrip as they will be taking on Lone Star. The Bulls go into the contest with a 7-11-2 record with 16 points on the season. They will be playing on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and will be playing on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
