The West Texas A&M Buff and Lady Buff basketball teams will be playing their last regular season game this Saturday at home against Eastern New Mexico. The Lady Buffs enter the contest at 23-2 overall and 14-1 in conference play. The Lady Buffs have already won the regular season conference title. The Buffs enter the game at 16-11 overall and 6-7 in LSC play as they are fighting for fourth or fifth place in the conference. The Lady Buffs will tip-off at 2 pm with the Buffs following afterwards at 4 pm.
The West Texas A&M baseball team split the doubleheader with Texas A&M-Kingsville yesterday losing the first game 6-3, but winning the second game 3-1. The Buffs currently have a 9-5 overall record and 1-1 conference record. They will continue their four-game series with Texas A&M-Kingsville today with another doubleheader starting at 1 pm.
The West Texas A&M softball teams' four-game series with Tarleton State this weekend was cancelled due to unplayable field conditions. The games were originally supposed to be played yesterday and today, then was moved earlier in the week to Sunday and Monday, and then the final decision came yesterday to cancel. Due to Lone Star Conference rules, the series will not be made up. This was the only meeting between the teams in the regular season.
In girls high school playoff basketball action last night, Canyon slips past Wichita Falls Rider 48-46. Gruver takes down Christoval 48-43. And Canadian beats Plains 46-43.
In boys high school playoff basketball action last night, El Paso Canutillo knocks Canyon out 47-36. Palo Duro tops El Paso Bowie in a shootout 100-92. El Paso Bel Air defeated Randall 49-31. Nazareth beat Groom 38-29. And Texline easily beats McLean 90-26.
The Amarillo Bulls will be on the road this Saturday and Sunday as they take on Wenatchee. The Bulls enter the two-game series at 19-25-4 overall with 42 points on the season. The puck will drop on Saturday at 7:05 pm and Sunday's start time will be at 5:05 pm.
After Day 2 of The Honda Classic play, Amarillo native Ryan Palmer finds himself tied for 81st and just behind the cut line. Palmer was unable to finish the second round as play was suspended due to darkness. His current score is five over for the tournament. The projected cut line is at four over.
WT Senior basketball guard Antjuan Ball has advanced to the semifinals of the State Farm Dark Horse Dunker Competition. Ball is now one of four finalist to try to participate in the 2015 State Farm College Slam Dunk competition that will air on ESPN during Final Four Weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana. Fans can vote for Ball at www.DarkHorseDunker.com and voting will be open until March 4th at noon.
