WT Sports Update

The WT baseball team will be in Stephenville this weekend for a three-game series against Tarleton State. The Buffs head into the series with a 29-15 overall record and an 18-11 conference record. The series kicks off today at 3 pm.

Due to the high winds produced yesterday, the WT softball team's series with Texas Woman's got pushed back for games today and tomorrow. Both days will have doubleheaders at 1 and 3 pm at Schaeffer Park. The Lady Buffs will look to continue their regular season success as they hold a 41-6 overall record and a 21-3 conference record. The Lady Buffs can clinch the Lone Star Conference regular season title outright this weekend.

WT Lady Buffs basketball coach Mark Kellogg adds former University of Texas player Lilley Vander Zee and former Abilene Christian player Madison Parker to the 2015-2016 roster. Vander Zee played in only 21 games in two years at Texas with 19 career points and 11 career rebounds. Former Canyon Lady Eagle Parker played in 22 games as a freshman at Abilene Christian last year compiling stats of shooting 47% from the floor and 2.2 rebounds per game.

High School Baseball/ Softball Recap

The Canyon Lady Eagle softball team won the District 3-5A title as they defeated Randall 4-2. Canyon freshman pitcher Kyra Lair struck out five and allowed only two runs on three hits in the win. The Lady Eagles finished 10-0 in district play while the Lady Raiders finished second in the district with an 8-2 record and both loses coming to Canyon.

In high school baseball action yesterday, Randall improves to 13-0 in district play with a 16-3 win over Palo Duro. Canyon scored eight runs in the third inning to top Caprock 16-2. And Frenship blows out Tascosa on the road 15-1.

Amarillo Venom-Dodge City Preview

The Amarillo Venom will be back home this Saturday for a showdown with the first place Dodge City Law. The Venom head into the contest with a 3-3 overall record and stand in fifth place in the league standings. Kickoff for that game will be at 7:05 pm.
