SOX BREAK LOSING STREAK

The Amarillo Sox broke a five game losing streak on Friday with an 11-7 win over Grand Prairie in American Association baseball. Amarillo's offense finally woke up with five runs in the sixth, one in the seventh and four more in the 8th inning. The Airhogs rallied with four in the ninth but the Sox held on for the win. Matt Larkins picked up the win with 7 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on just four hits. Corey Madden came on in the 9th to get the save. Amarillo's Trey Ford had two hits, including a home run, with three rbi.

The teams wrap up the series tonight beginning at 7:05 p.m. at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium.

VENOM COACH SAYS TEAM NEEDS CONSISTANCY

The Amarillo Venom are gearing up for a road game on Monday at Abilene, a team which the Venom have already beaten twice this season. At his weekly news conference on Wednesday, Venom head coach Julian Reese said they won't have any problem getting up for playing the Bombers since the teams really don't like each other. He also said they have plenty of room for improvement after last week's 48-38 win over San Angelo. Reese said they really haven't put together a complete game where they are clicking on all cylinders.

Gametime is 6:05 p.m. on Monday in Abilene.
